A light-emitting smart door handle using Covestro's light-diffusion grade PC material AG2477 DQ 028355 as the light-emitting surface of the product, which can effectively improve the light-emitting effect of surface area, reduce the "local dark area" and "local bright spot" of the light-emitting surface, and achieve homogeneous lighting effect. The product adopts the front and rear shell design, the rear shell adopts a hollow structure, and the hollow structure integrates the PCB emission control module, which can not only make the product lighter and thinner, but also facilitate maintenance and replacement. The product is realized by overmolding, the first shot is to injection mold Covestro’s black PC material as the rear shell, and then an electronic film integrated with LEDs is fixed on the rear shell, then the second shot AG2477 DQ 028355 will be overmolded to form the front shell. The final product is a light-emitting door handle with an integrated intelligent lighting control module. For the surface high quality material and less expensive material for the core component, like recycled material, can be used. DURACIRCLE™ Re-compounding Technology
Our target group is sustainable solutions that contribute to the 100% recycling of engineering plastics. We don't discard the leftovers (gates, runners, and their crushed products) generated during the customer's manufacturing process. Instead, we convert them into new "products" - recycled materials. Our process goes beyond simple recycling and shredding. We work with our customers to manage the quality of moulded scraps. By doing so, we manufacture recycled materials through process management and strict inspections using the manufacturing technology we have cultivated over the years. Using this recycled material as part of the feedstock reduces the amount of virgin material used while maintaining product quality and functionality. The use of this recycled material helps reduce the carbon footprint of products and the waste of moulding scraps which has been a problem for customers. At this stage, the raw material is tentatively pre-consumer material, which can be traced back to production records and does not need to worry about the contamination of environmentally hazardous substances. We tailored made high performance Vistamax™ based polyolefin based solutions adapted to various processes (extrusion, knife coating, roller coating, calendaring) and product categories to replace PVC for those two flooring products. Through collaboration with value chain partners, the new Vistamax™ based solutions were commercialized with success. The flooring products were upgraded under the joint effort of flooring producers, paving the way towards more sustainable and easier recyclable material for flooring.

SABIC was able to meet Microsoft’s performance requirements with an ocean-bound resin solution – ISCC PLUS certified circular LEXAN™ flame retardant (FR) polycarbonate resin with 20% mass balance-attributed recycled ocean bound plastic (OBP) - that demonstrates the feasibility of converting OBP into high-performance material used in consumer electronics using advanced recycling.

A light-emitting smart door handle using Covestro's light-diffusion grade PC material AG2477 DQ 028355 as the light-emitting surface of the product, which can effectively improve the light-emitting effect of surface area, reduce the "local dark area" and "local bright spot" of the light-emitting surface, and achieve homogeneous lighting effect. The product adopts the front and rear shell design, the rear shell adopts a hollow structure, and the hollow structure integrates the PCB emission control module, which can not only make the product lighter and thinner, but also facilitate maintenance and replacement. The product is realized by overmolding, the first shot is to injection mold Covestro’s black PC material as the rear shell, and then an electronic film integrated with LEDs is fixed on the rear shell, then the second shot AG2477 DQ 028355 will be overmolded to form the front shell. At this stage, the raw material is tentatively pre-consumer material, which can be traced back to production records and does not need to worry about the contamination of environmentally hazardous substances. We aim to provide recycling solutions for all of Polyplastics’ engineering plastics.
